As I've mentioned on here before, much of what happened over the last year in Bush's fight with the United Nations over Iraq and such was, I feel, an attempt to discredit and marginalize the United Nations as an entity. The far right of this country has been trying to end the U.N. or end our involvement in it or discredit it for years and years and I think that all of the fights the Bush Administration have been pursuing with it have been part of that underlying concept. And the U.N. does such important and necessary work. But Bush and his people don't care. I think it's time we begin fighting FOR the role and stability of the U.N. more often.
