what i don't understand from all the media this last year is the lack of stories about the revolt WITHIN the republican party. incumbents and party regulars are falling away in stunning upsets against 'tea party' insurgents who have never ran for office before but basing their campaigns on insane, far-right ideology. the soul of the republican party is being fought over and changing and while all the media and the party talks up the excitement over the republican party and the big wins it will probably win this fall, what they don't talk about is how angry many of the establishment republicans must be in regards to outsiders taking over their own party. while in the short run this may be exciting for their party, it will undoubtedly lead to more and more moderate and independent-type republicans leaving the party in the long run. witness the governor of florida charlie crist leaving the party earlier this year because he could not win the primary for senate in his state anylonger. dems will lose many races this fall, but the future is not with the republican party as it surges more and more fanatically right wing.
