Conservatives have spent years criticizing liberals for sticking with failed government schemes. In the case of airport security, we confront what can only be called a failed privatization scheme. We decided to keep it in the private sector, only to discover from study after study that farming out airport security to the lowest bidder leads to lousy security.....What's not debatable is that the public is demanding a more active government. It wants more protection from threats and more confidence that the authorities will deal effectively with the consequences of threats that materialize.
