the following photos were from a very cool temple i saw called Ta Keo. this i visited on my third day and it was pouring down rain. which made this one all the more interesting because it's a very steep climb over many little tiny steps all the way up to the top. there were several levels, all with tiny steps in between. i called these tiny steps, 'grandma steps,' for two reasons, because as you can see below, they are only about as big as my grandma's small feet and i had to step sideways to climb. and the second reason is because i continually said to myself, 'if my grandma can climb these steps, i know i can!'
anyway, as you can see from some of the photos, rain was pouring and water was trickling down the steps in small and large gushes. made it all more complicated and there were of course signs saying, 'climb at your own risk.' but of course i had to climb. you can see in one of the photos a woman climbing down precariously and her umbrella further down the stairs as she had dropped it and it went tumbling down. she made it down ok and got her umbrella back.
and of course i had to take pictures even though my camera was getting wet. but what you gonna do? one more thing about this temple, was that it was never completed. one of the photos below shows a wall that was in the middle of being built. and you can see that the tops of the towers are not finished completely. the legend is that it was never finished because lightning struck the temple one night and they could not rid the temple of the evil spirits so they quit building. anyway, it was a wonderful temple to visit and i loved it, especially in the rain.
