yay! got my dvd of the old g.i.joe cartoons. finally after years and years of wanting them. this is the first in a new set of dvds that just came out this summer. before this they were in some weird random extra-expensive large packaging that didn't seem to make sense. now at least they're in a more appropriate and cheaper collection. and they come with lots of extras including old g.i.joe toy commercials and old public service announcements. i'm watching old early 1980's g.i.joe tv commercials for the toys on the dvd set and they've blurred out the faces of the young kids playing with the toys. um, why? are they not allowed to show their faces after all these years? legal rights involved? whatever the issue, make the commercials look weird. but anyway, it's all fun and reminding me of good times. can't wait to collect all the dvds.
really enjoyed reading 'the reader' novel. easy read with an intriguing story. looking forward to now seeing the movie of last year.
finally had a chance to read this vanity fair expose about sarah palin. what an amazing piece. she's a nightmare. it was written just before she quit but it still gives so much guidance about where this woman came from and what she's supposedly about. totally worth the read.
i've reached an important milestone in my life. this week is the tenth anniversary of my move across the country to settle here in san francisco. at this time ten years ago, i was busy packing my life up in dc, getting rid of tons of old clothes and shoes and furniture and all kinds of things i decided to leave behind in the plan to change my life. my dear friend corby came from his then-location of atlanta to help me do so and to drive across the country in a week-long trek. it was an incredibly beautiful time in my life as i had no idea what was before me, but i was so happy to open myself up to all that may occur. i left dc on the 12th of july, 1999, and arrived in san francisco on july 18th, 1999. i remember so fondly the moment we began reaching the bay area and we stopped at a vantage point on a hill before the entire bay area, i looked out, felt the wind in my hair, raised up my arms in joy, and knew this was going to be my new life of my own choosing.
i know i don't seem to write on here much anymore. but that's about to change. i want to get back into blogging. of course i've moved over to facebook for the most part and it's like a blog over there. but i do want to get back to blogging on here too. so look for more soon.
haven't played racquetball in years. i've known how much i love it, but i haven't had a partner or a court to play on in years. today, after much searching and distress, i happened to find a great court and a great potential partner. we'll see if he wants to keep playing, but i'm excited that i found a court. and now i can find more potential partners to play too. this is working out that's fun, not work, and i'm planning on making it a new habit. yay!
there is a facebook photo album i've created on my boss' site with tons of photos from our recent pride parade. i'm very proud of the contingent we put together (over 150 people joined). there are about 77 photos in all of the full group and it's really made me happy seeing these great photos. enjoy!
